Police Rounds Beware a scam that says youve won the big one POLICE are investigating reports of a scam where the victim is contacted by phone and asked to participate in a survey by a man stating he is with the Hong Kong Casino and undertaking market research. After the survey is completed, he says that for participating in the survey they are in the draw to receive a prize and that they will be notified by telephone. About two weeks later the victim is told that they have won the draw which is a prize of $150,000, and a request is made for personal details including bank accounts. They are then asked to forward amounts of money as insurance. Further requests for money are made at later stages and the victim is informed they have won a casino lottery for a large amount of money (usually in the millions). Further requests for money, for taxes and insurance, are requested before the money is released. Police say people should realise this is a fraud and an attempt to extract money from innocent people. If any contact is made, no money should be forwarded to the organisation, and the police should be contacted. * * * A WOMAN, 19, was indecently assaulted and robbed whilst walking in broad daylight in Rydes Pidding Park last Sunday.
