Pubs call for more hours withdrawn Woolwich residents are celebrating after a development application to extend the Woolwich Pier Hotels trading hours was withdrawn from Council last week. The application, lodged in September last year, called for an extension of the hours of operation for the first floor balcony, and the installation of noise attenuation measures. Under the proposal, the balconys hours would be extended by two hours to midnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and by one hour to 11pm Monday through Wednesday. Strongly opposed by nearby residents on grounds of increased noise later into the night, an earlier conciliation meeting between residents and hotel management failed to resolve any of the issues. The application was due to come before Council at its meeting last week, but was withdrawn at the last minute. Neighbour Bill Ierace said: I think they made the right decision given the amount of objections from the residents. Im happy the hotel took notice of the residents. I give them top marks for that. The process worked. The hotels been there for many years. We have no issue with it being there. Hotel management didnt respond to calls from TWT regarding their reasons for withdrawal of the application. |
